Good to Know
- The law does not specifically require a building to have an evacuation chair, but under the Equality Act 2010 businesses must make reasonable adjustments so that people with disabilities can be evacuated safely. An evacuation chair helps towards meeting this duty.
- The chair is quick and easy to deploy in an emergency. Full instructions are provided, so you can train your staff in advance and be prepared if an emergency happens.
- As a Class I medical device it falls under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). It should be checked, serviced and maintained regularly to keep it in safe working order, and records of the checks should be kept.
